Westville resident, Siya Nzimande shares his cheesy twist to the creamed spinach dish.

YOU gotta love cheese for this easy four-step recipe.

Westville resident, Siya Nzimande loves his family, food and singing and that is why its not surprising that his favourite thing is cooking for his family while hitting a few notes.

Siya has prepared a recipe that combines the average brazed spinach with a few new ingredients; butternut and cheese to create the all mighty ‘creamed spinach and butternut dish with a cheesy twist’.

Here’s what you will need:

Olive oil

Spinach

Butternut

Cheese spread

Salt and pepper for seasoning

Oh and of course a pot, stove and a few utensils would be great.

And here’s what you do:

Cook the spinach in a pot of boiling water for just one minute, add to a cold water bath to stop the cooking, and then squeeze out the excess water from the leaves.

In a medium pot on high heat; add three tablespoons of olive oil, once hot add the spinach, salt and pepper to taste.

Add cubed butternut and stir. Let it cook for about five minutes.

With the temperature on low, stir.

Now for the fun part; add as many scoops of the cheese spread as your heart desires. Stir a few times and voila! you have your creamed spinach and butternut dish with a chessy twist.
