Kennelled humans bay for bail

Kloof and Highway SPCA said they were grateful for the support they have received thus far.

CAGED volunteers and their supporters helped make the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s biggest annual fund-raiser, the Dog Box 2018, a huge success; the accountants are still tallying the bail donations.

A great atmosphere and comradrie prevailed where the focus was the support for the animals.

Thirty-three people were locked into the Kloof and Highways SPCA’s 24 socialisation run kennels for 24 hours from noon on Friday, 25 May until noon on Saturday, 26 May 2018 in an effort to raise funds.

Barbara Patrick, manager of the Kloof and Highway SPCA and Dog Box Challenge, said it was the fourth year hosting the Dog Box fund-raiser and it is one of the most sociable and fun events of the year for the SPCA.

“We would like to thank our community as well as our participants for joining this exciting event by visiting our participants in their kennels, donating funds towards their ‘bail’ money and being a special part of our 2018 Dog Box,” said Patrick.

The funds raised will be used in the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s ongoing fight against the prevention of cruelty to all animals.

The team was still (by Monday afternoon) totalling the funds raised during the weekend and said they were are grateful for the support they have received so far.

The Kloof and Highway SPCA’s will host its popular Mutt Mile on Sunday, 24 June as well as Ales 4 Tails the following weekend on Saturday, 30 June.
