Crinkley Bottom Park manager shot, killed

The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage. A case of murder has been opened and is being investigated by Hillcrest police station.

CRINKLEY Bottom Park manager, Adriaan Van Wyk, was gunned down at the Cresthome premises on Sunday morning.

Laiken Westermann, who commented on behalf of Crinkley Bottom Park and  worked with Van Wyk, confirmed the incident. She said video footage revealed that two armed men confronted Van Wyk between 8.15am and 8.45am on Sunday, 27 May.

“They fired a single shot in Adriaan’s stomach and he died at the scene. It is weird as nothing was taken,” said Westermann.

Westermann described Van Wyk as a loving family man who handled all his staff with great respect and he was a very good colleague.

Van Wyk lived in Waterfalll and was in his 30s. He was married to Samantha and they have a son, Connor.

Crinkley Bottom Park, which is a wedding venue and restaurant, was closed for business after the incident and only reopened this morning.

Corne Broodryk, who is a former Kloof CPF member, wrote in a post on Facebook that the Stokers community was devastated to hear the news of the brutal murder of their former manager and forever friend, Adriaan Van Wyk. Adriaan was the manager at Stokers from 2010 until 2017.

“Adriaan was a kind and caring man who went out of his way to accommodate every customer’s request. Nothing was too much trouble for him. His family has lost a husband, father and son who can not be replaced.”
