Awareness grows for World Hunger Day

A local non-profit organisation was given the opportunity to sell its fresh veggies at the Checkers in Hillcrest and raise much-needed awareness.

YENZANATHI Community Upliftment Project was one of 15 community food gardens that successfully sold fresh vegetables at selected Checkers stores on Friday, 18 May to raise much-needed awareness ahead of World Hunger Day on 28 May.

The Shoprite Group partnered with these community organisations in the fight against hunger and its vision is to enable communities to feed themselves in an independent and sustainable manner.

Yenzanathi Community Upliftment Project and Checkers thanked shoppers who showed their support and took the time to learn more about hunger.
