Next of kin sought by Pinetown police

The community chased the robbers and caught one of them, who is believed to be in his 20s. They beat him up and he died at the scene.

PINETOWN detectives are looking for the relatives or family of an unknown man who was assaulted by the members of the community in Pinetown.

Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, spokesperson for KZN SAPS, said it is believed a woman was walking along Crompton Street on 15 May, when she was robbed at knife point by three unknown men.

“They took her handbag, she then cried out for help and members of the community chased the three men. They caught up with one of them believed in his 20s. They assaulted him and he died at the scene. A case of murder was opened for investigation,” said Mbhele.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have information on the next of kin or who can identify the deceased to contact Sergeant Zenzi Mkhize on 076 607 8883 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
