Power up for #2Nations Charity Run in Shongweni

Help raise much-needed funds for the Freedom Ride Powerbreed Rescue NPO based in Shongweni.

GET revved up for the #2Nations Charity Run and Park Off from Shongweni to Bierfassel in the Midlands on Sunday, 6 May from 9am to raise funds for the Freedom Ride Powerbreed Rescue (FRPR) organisation.

The FRPR is based at D30 207 Cliffdale Road in Shongweni and currently has 80 dogs in its care. The NPO started more than a year ago and has since helped re-home dozens of dogs.

Brett Farrell, the chairman, said, “The realisation of just how many little souls rely on us was a wake-up call. To witness the hollow, lifeless eyes and often the broken little bodies and spirits that we welcome to our care and watch them transform into the most amazing animals with healed bodies. To see them join their forever families brings a sense of achievement beyond explanation.”

Supporter, Nastassja Nielsen, said, “Pitbulls hold a special place in my heart, so when I came across the Freedom Ride Powerbreed Rescue Facebook page, I started following them. I went up to see the work they do and saw how they were in desperate need of help. I started planing and, being someone who loves pitbulls and cars as well, I contacted a few of the car groups I know to do a charity run.”

The event will start at the organisation’s premises in Shongweni and will cost R100 per person, including lunch.

If you are unable to join in on the charity drive, in-kind and monetary donations are welcome. The FRPR is in need of Montego dog food, blankets, tyre beds and medium to large stainless steel bowls.

“A big thank you to Twelve 21 Tuning, Grounded Nation and Boost Nation for their support in this fund-raiser,” said Nastassja.
