Animal lovers create wave of change

More than 250 dogs were sterilised in the Valley of 1 000 Hills during an outreach clinic hosted by two non-profit organisations.

A PASSIONATE team of staff and volunteers from the Kloof and Highway SPCA, together with volunteers from KZN Valley Dogs, held a joint outreach clinic at the Maphepheteni Hall in the Inanda Valley recently.

The team sterilised 278 animals over a four-day period and they were also treated for various conditions.

Each animal received tick and flea treatment, rabies vaccinations and an Ivomectin treatment and all sterilised animals went home with a bag of donated Hills food and a new blanket.

“The community was also educated about basic animal care, animal welfare issues and awareness about the SPCA and their function.

“We would like to thank everyone who donated funds and their time to making this outreach clinic such a success. Together we made a difference in the lives of so many animals and prevented so many more unwanted litters in this community,” said the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s marketing officer, Brigitte Ferguson.
