QUILT INDABA 2018: a bi-annual by Grassroots Quilters Guild
A week-long event sure to be “the” quilting feast for fabri-holics will feature acclaimed and skilled teachers from KZN, Gauteng and the Cape.
For the first time in its history, the indaba will offer classes not only on weekdays, but also on Saturday, 12 May, and Sunday, 13 May at the delightful Emoyeni Country Lodge in Cato Ridge where overnight accommodation is also available for delegates. Day visitors are most welcome to pop in and see what is on offer. A small entrance fee will be charged.
There will be a range of pop up stores offering a range of wares. Among these are BERNINA; Liefie Love, Amafu Fabrics, May-Gene, Quilt-a-stix, Jane Renton, Singer and ItzaDebbieThing, Bernina Musgrave or the Highway Saunter.
Apart from the stores, visitors will also be able to view the quilt display. One display not to be missed is the Amafu quilt challenge, in which entrants who participated received exactly the same fabric and were required to produce an item based on a theme.
Bernina: 125 years of Swiss excellence
This year Bernina International celebrates 125 years of producing fine quality Swiss manufactured sewing machines.
Bernina stores in Durban are preparing for a month of creativity workshops and will host a birthday party on Wednesday, 9 May at the Indaba during lunch time.
All delegates and booked-in day visitors will have the opportunity to win lucky draw prizes and partake in the festivities.
As with the rest of the festival, day visitors are most welcome but will need to book ahead to secure a spot at this particular event. The day ticket costs R110 per person and includes lunch.
