Lasses hone skills for ARTS

Five students from the local KZN Dance Centre were hand-picked to showcase their talents alongside hundreds of others in the ARTS International event.

IN October last year five students from the KZN Dance Centre were scouted by international talent scout, Kim Myers, and were personally invited to attend the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS) in Orlando in July this year.

Savanah de Beer (17), Courtney Mardon (17), Summer de Beer (12), Demi Felix (17) and Lia Tocknell (12) are all equally excited to be taking part in the competition.

“It is with utmost importance that we select only the very best for the ARTS International Showcase, offering only the best performers to our international panel of agents, record labels, casting directors, managers and producers from Hollywood, Miami, New York City, Atlanta and in-between as well as far afield as Europe and Asia,” said Kim Myers.

“After careful evaluation of each performance, it is with great honour to extend an official invitation for you to perform at the ARTS 2018. The ARTS will bring you face-to-face with industry professionals throughout the world. Participants and their parents will experience seven days of the ultimate level industry exposure,” she concluded.

By the time the group jets off they would have attended two boot camps run by Elsubie Verlinden and her team from Just You Model and Artist Management. At these camps they will work on perfecting their skills in the various genres of modelling, dancing, acting and singing.

“The entertainment industry is an extremely competitive one and these young artists have to have the talent, passion, drive and always being ready to put in the hours of hard work to keep pushing ahead if they want to succeed,” said KZN Dance Centre’s Bonnie Hayman de Beer.
