Residents invited to Highway clean-up campaign
Highway resident, Daniel MadhachiI is calling for residents, businesses, NGOs, and the general public to join hands and come together for a clean-up which will start in Pinetown and end in Hillcrest.
A HIGHWAY conservationist, Daniel Madhachi, is spearheading a clean-up campaign and is encouraging the public to join in on Saturday, 28 April.
The aim of Madhachi’s campaign is to send a clear message and teach children the importance of a clean, litter-free city, where waste removal services are effective, bins are not overflowing and waste is not dumped illegally.

“A clean city vision requires community involvement and law abiding citizens with a love for their city and environment. We need to ensure the cleanliness of the City through education, awareness and participation which is the reason I am calling for residents, businesses, NGOs, and any general public to join hands and come together for a Upper Highway clean-up,” he said.
Durban Solid Waste will also be on board for this campaign. Among places which will be cleaned are parks, pavements and along rivers. They are also asking community groups and schools, to partner with them on the day.

Activities will start at 7.30am in Pinetown, go through Kloof and end in Hillcrest at 1pm.
“The benefits of such an initiative include healthy citizens and a productive economy, flourishing business hubs and ultimately a city that is highly attractive to investors and tourists.
“I urge residents to become part of the campaign and make a difference in the quality of life of our fellow citizens and to participate in the campaign in their respective areas.
