Dawncliffe family tied up while robbers ransack home

The robbers fled in the victim's black Fiat, and stole two TV's, a cellphone, jewellery and tools.

A 32-YEAR-old man and his father were tied up and locked in the bathroom while two robbers ransacked their home and fled with valuables in Maryvale Avenue in Dawncliffe during early hours of this morning.

Capt Elizabeth Squires, spokesperson for Westville SAPS said the victim was awoken by the sound of footsteps down the passage around 1.15am today. He went to investigate and was attacked by two men.

“They tied up the victim and his father and locked them up in the bathroom. The robbers asked them for the safe and gold. They took the victim’s black Fiat, and two TV’s, a cellphone, jewellery and tools,” said Squires. 

She added that the vehicle and Tvs were recovered by police in Clermont a short while afterwards.

Squires added that there were no shots fired and no injuries. A case of house robbery is being investigated by Westville detectives.
