Debbie Crawford, media liaison at the school, said construction started in the third term of 2017 and the progress was watched with great excitement by parents and learners alike.

“This facility allows for a hockey field for all our children to play a match right up to U13 level. There are also three netball fields for our girls to play on,” said Crawford.

She added that an AstroTurf is becoming an essential facility at primary schools as most matches played in the Highway area are on this type of surface.

She said to remain competitive, their players needed to practice and play regularly on an AstroTurf.

“The school is very grateful to the governing body of Atholl Heights Primary School who supported the vision of the Atholl Heights AstroTurf field. Due to careful financial management over the last few years, this vision became a reality.

We look forward to many matches on our new field,” said Crawford.
