Davashni’s dedication admired

Star College Girls' High School has chosen Grade 10 learner, Davashni Pillay, as its SPAR Star of the Month.

AMERICAN philosopher and poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson, once said, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”

This is the motto Davashni Pillay, a Grade 10 learner at Star College, aims to live by on a daily basis.

Davashni said from the first day of Grade 8 in 2016, her life had not been the same.

She added that Star College had given her multiple opportunities to grow personally, academically and to become self-sufficient.

“All of this can be attributed to my supportive and dedicated teachers who always make sure I reach my potential,” said Davashni.

In the last two years, she has shone academically and represented the school in the United States of America for the World Genius Olympiad. Davashni and her partner, Theranya Pillay, took part in the science expo which consisted of 1200 participants from more than 70 different countries.

“I have also been fortunate to keep my academic Grades at a high standard. This is not easy but through the motivation and guidance from teachers and my parents it has been made possible. My plan is to work consistently, diligently and with passion to reach my dream of becoming a paediatrician one day,” said Davashni.

Star College Girls’ High School selected Davashni Pillay as their SPAR Star of the Month due to her academic dedication and consistency in her educational walk.
