Police recover stolen property in Hammarsdale

Police found four bags weighing 1375 kg of polypropelyn polymer worth more than R 90 000.

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in Hammarsdale for possession of suspected stolen property worth close to R100 000.

Members from the eThekwini Inner and Outer West Cluster Crime Intelligence, together with the Narcotics Team, conducted an intelligence driven operation on Sunday, 18 March in the area following the allegations of theft of polypropelyn polymer (a product used to make plastic chairs) from a company in Hammarsdale.

“During their investigation, police stopped a truck in Green Road in the business park, and when searching it found four bags weighing 1 375kg consisting of polypropelyn polymer worth more than R90 000,” said KZN police spokesman, Lt/Col Thulani Zwane.

The KwaZulu-Natal acting provincial commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa commended the members for their work that led to the recovery and arrest of the suspect.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Mpumalanga Magistrate’s Court soon.
