Hillcrest cubs make every drop count

More than 4 000 litres of water was collected by the 1st Hillcrest Scouts and Guides group for those in need in the Western Cape.

THE 1st Hillcrest Scouts and Guides rallied together to collect water and help make a difference in the lives of those who are suffering in the current water crises in the Western Cape.

The local scouts and guides recently made their donation of more than 4 000 litres and filled up a van of bottled water and delivered it to the Gift of the Givers who are palletising the bottled water and co-ordinating distribution in the Western Cape.

The 1st Hillcrest youth said that they felt it was their duty to help those who are severely suffering in the drought.

“It’s good to help those who need water because it’s something that you need to live. It’s unfair that there are people who are living without it and those of us who have water need to share it with them,” said 1st Hillcrest cub, Tyler Myburgh.

Another cub, Stephen Munro, said the donation was made out of love for others in the country.

“I think it’s amazing that people, especially children, are so willing to help those in need. It’s a way of teaching them valuable lessons and reaching out to those less fortunate,” said the 1st Hillcrest Scout and Guide Group chairman, Steve Camp.
