Reece hits the right note

Curro Hillcrest's SPAR Star of the Month - February 2018.

CURRO Hillcrest presents learners with the opportunity to shine in all spheres of school life and one learner who has embraced this to the fullest is Reece Ronaldson, in Grade 11.

He has excelled not only on the sports field, but has also shown exceptional talent on the cultural stage, where he has emerged as an exceptional composer and musician.

Reece started as a member of the Curro Hillcrest Marimba Band and has since immersed himself in the art of composition to the extent that he is now composing music of an award-winning standard.

Reece recently composed an African-inspired piece for marimba, which he entered into the International Steelpan and Marimba Festival.

The judges were impressed to the extent that his piece was punted by acclaimed and experienced marimba experts for performance by development orchestras on the international stage.

This is a true honour and an outstanding achievement for a learner of his age.

Reece is currently working on his next composition to be debuted at this year’s festival.

“We look forward in anticipation to see the fruits of his creative talent and wish him all of the best for the competition,” said Curro Hillcrest’s marketing manager, Fiona Johnson.
