Highbury teach boys the meaning of love

The school creates space for boys to love school, love sport, love reading, love robotics, love orchestra, even to love maths

AT Highbury, love is one of the 18 words that make up the school’s Culture of Honour.

The Culture of Honour is based on the work of Stephen Covey, and is part of how the school teaches the Highbury boys to behave in an honourable way towards others, including peers, teachers and visitors, as this underpins every facet of school life.

“The way that love is explained in the senior primary is: Love is the most powerful force in the universe. It is not just the mushy stuff you see on TV. We know what love is because of God’s example. Love others, it’s that simple,” said Highbury’s marketing assistant Jacqui Maurice.

David Burns, head of senior primary, said, “This term we have been talking about being bold and that Highbury boys are bold in love. We create space for boys to love school, love sport, love reading, love robotics, love orchestra, even to love maths.”
