Pinehaven women knit with love

The knitted garments include beanies, scarves, jerseys and teddies which are distributed to the less privileged.

THE summer heat has not stopped the Pinehaven ladies from knitting up a storm for the less privileged children around the Highway area.

The knitting team from both the retirement village and the lodge have knitted a substantial amount of beanies, scarves, jerseys and dolls.

Jean Senogles from the Rotary Club of Pinetown said the knitted items are distributed to the Crisis Centre in KwaNdengezi, the Robin Hood Foundation and the 32 creches that the Rotary Club supports.

“The Rotary club supplies the ladies who are always eager to knit for the children with wool.

“They do a really great job, it brings smiles to many children. Even in this heat, they are still eager and it’s very difficult to knit as hands become very slippery,” said Senogles.

She added that the Pinehaven women do this out of the goodness of their hearts. As wool is very expensive any donations of wool dropped off at Pinehaven Retirement Home, 14 Meller Road, Pinetown, is appreciated.
