VIDEO: Waterfall pipe bursts two days after grievance meeting

The water pipe burst was allegedly reported at 1am today and the water was left gushing until it was shut down at about 7am.

ANOTHER burst pipe in Niagara Drive in Waterfall has left residents without water again.

The pipe is alleged to have burst at about 1am today.

Ailsa Proctor-Parker, a Niagara Drive resident, said  “My husband and I were both woken up this morning by a shuddering noise. It sounded like bricks falling on the roof.”

“We realised that another pipe had burst when we tried to open a tap and no water came out. A hell of a lot of water was lost this morning,” she said.

Proctor-Parker noted there had been numerous pipe bursts recently and, while the authorities were quick to respond, it took a long time for the repairs to be completed.

Dwain Dreyer said the water was left to run for six hours before it was shut off.

“At 7am water was still gushing out and the contractor was scrambling to locate the shut off valve.”

He said that repairs only began at about 7.30am and there was still no water in the area.

This comes only two days after a grievance meeting was held with City council regarding the numerous burst pipes in the area.
