Stolen car recovered in Pinetown

In a separate case, a 32-year-old man was arrested for raping a teenage girl.

TWO men were arrested in Pinetown for possession of suspected stolen property on Sunday, 28 January.

According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, police found members from Netstar tracking company along St Johns Avenue with the two men after responding to a complaint of carjacking.

“It is alleged a black VW Golf 6 vehicle was hijacked in the Isipingo area. Members of the tracking company received information about a hijacked vehicle and they followed the vehicle until they stopped it in Pinetown where the two men, aged 30 and 32, were arrested.”

In another case, KwaDabeka police arrested a 32-year-old man for raping a 14-year-old girl.

“It is alleged that on Saturday, 27 January at about 8pm, the victim was accompanying her friend to the tuck shop in Zazi Road, Clermont when they met the suspect known to them.

“The friend went to the tuck shop and left the victim with the suspect. When she returned, the victim and the suspect were not there. The friend went to the victim’s home and reported the matter.

“The victim’s mother and the friend found the victim crying. She alleged she was raped. A case of rape was opened at the KwaDabeka police station. The suspect was arrested an hour later,” said Manqele.

The man was charged and appeared in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
