Winston Park man celebrates a landmark 106 years

AT the age of 106, Willie Rees is the epitome of positivity and liveliness as he celebrated his birthday with close family members recently.

He warmly welcomed the Highway Mail reporter into his home, recognising her from his birthday celebrations the previous year.

When asked what his birthday wish was, he timidly said he had none as he didn’t even know it was his birthday that day until his family members had reminded him.

Bill, as he is fondly known, is still healthy, quite active and loves to make his own tea. He enjoys reading newspapers and watching television.

The Winston Park resident is charming and a gentleman of note, walking the reporter to the door to say goodbye and inform her that he’ll see her again at his next birthday.
