UPDATE: Missing Gillitts man last seen in Mooi River

A friend of David Cuthbert had seen the young man in Mooi River on Saturday where it is believed he planned to catch a bus or hitchhike to Johannesburg.

THE family of the missing Gillitts man, David Cuthbert has shifted the search north. This after he was last seen in Mooi River on Saturday – allegedly to catch a bus or hitchhike to Johannesburg.

There are fears that the 22-year-old is experiencing an emotional breakdown.

Speaking to the Highway Mail this afternoon, his worried mother, Sharalee confirmed that she received a call from one of David’s friends saying he had slept over at his house in the Midlands on Friday. The friend had last seen David at the Engen garage in Mooi River where they had breakfast.

The friend contacted her after he had seen a post of David being missing on Facebook.

“Everybody has been concentrating their search in this area and we wanted to update the situation. We are all very concerned. He must not be thinking clearly,” she said.

On Sunday, the Highway Mail reported that David had disappeared from the Kloof area on Friday at about 2.15pm.

The last time Sharalee spoke to her son was on Friday at 2.35pm when she responded to his missed call.

David’s phone was last pinged in Millar Lane in Gillitts, near the Cuthbert residence but the family was unable to confirm the time it was last pinged with their son’s service provider.
