Help KwaNyuswa NPO pamper gogos

Yenzanathi Community Uplifts Project will host an event to raise funds for grannies who are also volunteers of the NPO.

TO show appreciation and give back to the elderly volunteers that help out at the KwaNyuswa NPO, Yenzanathi Community Uplifts Project will host an event to raise funds to pamper them.

The event, that will have performances from local artists, will also be held to celebrate 10 years of the NPOs existence.

“We have many projects that help families in need and the volunteers, many of whom are grannies, give of their time to assist our community,” said Lydia Hlophe, founder of Yenzanathi.

The NPO feeds more than 65 households in the valley through their soup kitchens, they assist child-headed families, unemployed people and grannies who look after their grandchildren.

On the 0,5 hectares of donated land, they plant vegetables which they use to cook their soup kitchen’s meals and also sell some as part of their income generating project.

“The volunteers I work with are mostly grannies who look after their grandchildren and I hope to raise enough money to take them out and pamper them for a change,” she said.

The festivities will start from 10am at Qadi Hall in KwaNyuswa. The entry fee is R20 per person.

Hlophe invited people to come and support this event.

“We will appreciate anyone who can sponsor us and help make this event a success so that our volunteers can feel appreciated and loved,” she said.

People who would like to sponsor goodie bags for the event, transport for the upcoming artists or any other assistance can contact Lydia on 073 122 2632.
