Help ‘fuel’ Highway Hospice charity drive

Start packing your unused items now so you are ready to top up the tanks (collection boxes) at any hospice shop.

HIGHWAY Hospice challenges the Highway community to help keep them going by supporting their donation drive which will take place at Hospice shops from Monday, 4 to Saturday, 9 December.

The Highway Hospice has, since 1982, provided a vital service to the critically ill in the community and tough economic conditions have had a huge impact on funding and ultimately the extent of support that they are able to provide to terminally ill patients in their care.

Highway Hospice’s Sheryl de Jager said they desperately need the community’s help to get the gauge back up so that it’s green for go in 2018.

“We are hoping that during the six-day drive we can secure 150 donations from the community which will provide enough ‘fuel’ for the early part of next year.

“We are experts at converting your waste into renewable energy to keep our engines running. Watch the gauge at the Pinetown shop or on our Facebook page to see how we are progressing,” said de Jager.

Donations can be handed in at any of the hospice shops but must be clearly marked Donation Drive so that the staff can monitor input and keep the gauge up to date.

De Jager said every 20th donation will receive a mystery gift as a token of thanks for supporting them on this incredible journey.

People who are unable to drop off, they should contact the depot on 031 709 2647 or Whatsapp 062 256 9243 to arrange a collection.
