Inchanga man gets 15 years for unlicensed guns

Police found two firearms and ammunition in Hlophe's washing basket.

CAMPERDOWN Regional Court sentenced Aaron Bheki Hlophe (45) to 15 years for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Thursday, 23 November.

Hlophe was arrested on 20 November 2015 when Inchanga visible policing members were doing their routine duties in the Inchanga area and they received information about a man who was in possession of firearms in Tin Town area.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, said when police entered the house, they saw Hlophe hiding something in the washing basket.

“A search was conducted in the house and two firearms and ammunition were found in the washing basket and Hlophe was arrested and charged for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” said Manqele.

Hlophe has made several appearances in court until he was finally convicted and sentenced.
