Learners bowl over cricket association

Two cricket stars from Forest View Primary School were chosen to form part of the KZN U13 cricket team.

FOREST View Primary School congratulated two of its learners for making it into the U13 girls KZN cricket team.

Tinita Van Zyl, Grade 5, and Christina Burrows, Grade 6, were both hand-picked by the KwaZulu-Natal Primary Schools’ Cricket Association.

Both learners have been committed to cricket at school level and have played both mini cricket and hard ball cricket for their respective teams.

Tinita currently plays for the U11 school team and Christina for the senior school team.

They spend hours practising in the cricket nets with their coach, Michel Mendonidis.

“Cricket as a school sport is close to the heart of many at Forest View and this shows in the hours our staff and learners put into practice and games time for cricket,” said the school’s public relations officer, Jean Montile.

Tinita and Christina will be touring to Gauteng at the end of November.

“They are exceptionally well-mannered and uphold sportsmanship and cricket etiquette standards that make our school very proud of both of them,” said Jean.
