Cygnet raise funds for charity

The main beneficiary was the Vukukhanye Social Upliftment initiative, a charitable trust that the school has very close to its heart.

THE Cygnet Golf Day, organised by a cheerful, happy and enthusiastic team, was a huge success, raising R5 000 for a charity organisation.

The women spent months approaching sponsors, cajoling parents to play and sourcing outstanding prizes for the whole field.

The anchor sponsor of the day was Powerhouse Security and the main beneficiary was the Vukukhanye Social Upliftment initiative, a charitable trust the school has very close to its heart.

Vukukhanye is an isiZulu word meaning ‘arise and shine’ and reflects the vision for the upliftment of the underprivileged, poor and marginalised people of a community.

Vukukhanye was started in 2001 out of concern for the care and support of orphans and vulnerable children and vulnerable families particularly in the community of Chesterville in Cato Manor.

The main services provided by Vukukhanye include a Children’s Foster Home, The Vukukhanye Educare Centre and a Bursary Project.
