Robin Hood bless Flame Lily folk

Robin Hood still have more than 20 projects and visits planned for the remainder of 2017.

FOR more than eight years, the Robin Hood Foundation has been hosting their Bless-a-Granny and Grandpa campaign and visit 3 000 elderly residents of local old age homes in November and December each year.

This year’s campaign started off with a visit to Flame Lily in Queensburgh, much to the delight of the elderly residents.

Joined by a team of volunteers from MCS Debt Recovery, who answered Robin Hood’s appeal to join them for a ‘Corporate team build with a difference’ and sponsored all the snacks for the visit, the elderly folk at Flame Lily enjoyed the much anticipated morning of tea, treats, laughter, dancing and interaction with all the volunteers. Guy Densel came along to play his guitar and sing some golden oldies for the grannies and grandpas.

“What a special time of year at Robin Hood! This is such a personalised campaign – with members of the community having the chance to get a wishlist specifically for a granny or grandpa and fill their wishes,” said co-ordinator of The Robin Hood Foundation, Kim Griffith Jones.

“The community support for Bless-a-Granny has been astounding and we managed to fill more than 2 800 wishlists in a matter of three weeks!.”

“We are so grateful to everyone who has pledged their support for this campaign, the donation of gifts, time, tea-time treats are such a blessing and make such a difference to the lives of these elderly folk.”

Robin Hood still have more than 20 projects and visits planned for the remainder of 2017.
