Botha’s Hill entrepreneurs craft ripple of change

Embo Crafts sewing course graduates were excited to learn new ways to grow and expand their businesses at a recent seminar.

SEVENTEEN eager Embo Craft graduates gathered in Botha’s Hill for a basic business seminar to help them better manage, grow and improve their businesses.

The group was a mix of men and women who took part in either the basic or advanced sewing courses offered at the NPO and were excited to learn how to push their new businesses to the next level.

Buhle Ndlela, a part time mentor at Embo Craft, hosted the course and taught each of the budding entrepreneurs the importance of networking, offered a few handy tips on how to expand their reach in their communities and help them turn a profit.

“Never keep quiet about your business. Listen to your gut instinct and take action. Be proud of your product. You are the CEO of your own company. When your business is flourishing, always find a way to give back and help others,” said a passionate Buhle.

The students were completely engrossed in the session, asking questions on how to ensure they didn’t over-invest, what to look out for when choosing a business partner and, should their small enterprise grow, how to control their finances to ensure they make a profit from each sale.

She offered a last piece of advice to the gathered group of business men and women. “Never be late for appointments. Time is important and time is money.”

Embo Craft’s Linda Venton closed the training session with a few words of encouragement.

“You are all doing really well and from what I can see here today, the work you have laid out all looks pretty advanced.

“This is one way of making money and I am really excited with what you have done and what will be achieved.”
