Second man arrested for Mariannhill massacre

The second man was arrested in KwaNdengezi for possession of two unlicensed firearms.

A SECOND suspect was arrested on Monday morning for the Mariannhill massacre which claimed the lives of five family members last month.

The first suspect, Mbongiseni Brian Shozi (24), was arrested a few days after the incident.

The second man was arrested in KwaNdengezi for possession of two unlicensed firearms.

The 27-year-old man was found in possession of a 303 rifle and 9mm pistol.

The arrest follows the brutal murder of five family members in Nteke, Mariannhill on Thursday, 6 October.

The family was accosted by gunmen who fired multiple shots at the five members aged between 19 and 34.

Four of the family members died at the scene and the other victim died in hospital on arrival.

Shozi will apear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court today (Wednesday 22 November).
