Wonderfully warm donation for Bobbi Bear

Operation Bobbi Bear received four Wonder Bags to ensure the children under its care receive warm meals each Saturday.

SPAR recently held an in-store competition where customers were encouraged to purchase Tiger Brands Products and through the competition, a local organisation also benefited with a few of the prizes.

The Home Cooked Happiness idea was centred around happiness in the kitchen and about making meals.

To enter the competition, customers were encouraged to purchase Tiger brands products along with their normal grocery shopping and spend R200 or more.

Customers placed their till slips into a box to enter the competition to win a Happiness Hamper plus a R1000 SPAR voucher.

Over and above the prize of the Happiness Hamper and the voucher, each hamper was packed with two Wonder Bags.

One bag was given to the hamper winner and the other bag was given to a charity of the SPAR store’s choice.

The Wonder Bag is a heavily insulated bag that keeps food cooking at a low, but safe temperature over several hours.

The bags are made by a group of underprivileged women in South Africa.

The Main Group of SPARS, including Main SPAR, Sarnia SPAR, Escombe KWIKSPAR and Hillary SPAR donated all four Wonder Bags to local charity shop, Social Cause Shared Charity Shop.

In turn, these were given to Operation Bobbi Bear, an organisation is committed to working with and assisting sexually abused and neglected children.

Bobbi Bear has a support group that meets every Saturday under a tree.

The Bobbi Bear Tree of Hope reaches out to more than 200 orphaned, abused, raped and hungry children who go along every Saturday because they know that somebody from Bobbi Bear will find them there to give them hope, guidance, food, safety and love.

These Wonder Bags will be used to take warm, cooked food to these children.
