Hillcrest’s singing sensation Shylo shares her heart

Each week, the talented muso will release a new cover or single on her website as part of The Note Book project.

HILLCREST muso, Shylo Pereira, was ecstatic to finally release her latest musical project entitled, The Note Book.

Shylo refers to this as her heart project and it was launched at the end of September.

Each week she releases a new song, and all of them have been carefully hand-picked as they are filled with meaning, vulnerability and have an authenticity to them.

She will give each of these well known songs a raw and real aspect.

And she will also release a blog with every song that tells a story from her life and includes a message of motivation.

Each song comes in various forms, from live and recorded videos to audio recording and clips.

“I am really excited to be sharing this with you guys,” said the enthused singer.

Her first song was Man in the Mirror with her most recent cover of Ed Sheraan’s Thinking Out Loud.

Shylo took a long break from the entertainment industry and moved to the United Kingdom where she lived for 10 years.

She took part in her fair share of gigs, had a recording and a publishing deal and even studied for a time.

“I came back to South Africa eight years ago where the wheels fell off in a big way. After picking up the pieces, getting married and having two girls, I decided it was now or never to get back into the performance world, starting in my hometown, Durban,” she said.

The Note Book is her life story, through the use of cover songs, which will later branch off on to her originals.

Each week from 26 September a new song has been released through social media.

“I’ve had quite a colourful life so far… so the songs are quite varied and will appeal to a broad audience. The Note Book’s content will speak to all walks of life, because it’s going to cover a lot of relevant and current topics.”

Shylo coaches singing and acting privately, is a contemporary vocal coach at Kearsney College, and is the newly appointed high school choir mistress at Thomas More College.

She is also a scout for KZN for the International ARTS Talent Showcase, ensuring she is always active in the performing world.

Visit her website, www.shylopereira.com for all of her music and blogs.
