Man found with drugs arrested in Pinetown

The drugs street value is estimated at R 10 000.

A MAN found in possession of 76 pieces of ecstasy tablets, 11 pieces of crystal meth, 16 pieces of rock cocaine, one full moon of rock cocaine, cash and one moon shape of pure cocaine was arrested in Pinetown on Friday night.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the 35-year-old man was arrested during an intelligence driven operation between Pinetown Crime Intelligence, Durban Tactical Response Team, National Intervention Unit, OCC and Ethekwini Inner and Outer West Drug Squad.

“A search was conducted in Dales Avenue in Pinetown and the man was found with an assortment of drugs with a street value of R10 000. He was charged for possession of drugs,” said Manqele.

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa, said they will make sure that the drug lords are taken off the streets.

“Similar operations are on-going in the province as part of festive season operations. We appeal to community members to work together with the police in identifying those who are dealing in drugs so that they can be arrested,” said Langa.
