Robbers raid two businesses in Westville within minutes

Westville detectives are investigating two cases of housebreaking business.

TWO businesses in Westville North were ransacked earlier today, as robbers helped themselves to computer equipment within minutes.

A reliable source who wished to remain anonymous said the alleged robbers arrived at the Food Lovers Market in a white Hyundai 100 bakkie earlier this morning.

They allegedly kicked open the door at the Food Lovers Market’s coffee shop and stole computers and then went to the premises next door, Domino’s Pizza, where they cut the lock using bolt cutters.

“The robbers entered the pizza premises and attempted to steal the menu screens which they thought were TVs however when they found out it was not TVs they went for the computer server and were in and out of both premises within minutes.”

It is believed the robbers worked in tandem as one group of robbers targeted the Food Lovers Market while the other group of robbers ripped off Domino’s Pizza.

Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer at Westville SAPS confirmed that two businesses, Food Lovers Market and Domino’s Pizza in Westville North were robbed today.

“In both cases the owners locked up their premises and activated the alarm. They received calls from their security companies that their shops had been broken into. Computer equipment and printers were stolen,” said Squires.

Squires added that two cases of housebreaking business had been opened at Westville SAP and will be investigated by Westville detectives.
