A JEWELLERY store at Westwood Mall was robbed of goods to the value of R20 000 on Monday, 4 September.
According to Capt Elizabeth Squires, communications officer at Westville SAPS, it is alleged two men entered the NWJ store at 2.05pm. They pretended as if they were buying something and suddenly grabbed two boxes of finger rings valued at R200 000 and fled the store.
“When a police officer witnessed the robbers fleeing, he tried to stop them by firing a warning shot but the robbers got away in a greyish Audi. There was no injuries sustained by the officer or robbers and no arrests have been made at this stage,” said Squires.
A case of business robbery is being investigated by Westville SAPS.
