Michaela unlocks world of golden opportunities

Michalea Christophers, a former learner at Waterfall College, was recently invited to be a member of the Golden Key Honour Society.

WATERFALL College’s alumni, Michaela Christophers, has been invited to join the Golden Key Honours Society. She will be receiving her badge in August.

Golden Key is the world’s largest collegiate honour society and is based on academic achievement.

Membership into the Society is by invitation only and applies to the top 15 per cent of college and university sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as top-performing graduate students in all fields of study. The values of Golden Key are integrity, innovation, respect, collaboration and diversity.

Michaela was head girl and Dux of School for Waterfall College in 2015.

She is currently studying her second year of BCom management accounting at Stellenbosch University and is particularly encouraged by the scholarships offered by the society, with access to a global network of experts who are able to provide contacts and mentorship.

She said, “I am really excited! Hopefully, it will offer some opportunities for me to further my studies overseas and bring the values I learnt at Waterfall College to the international arena. Without my amazing teachers and their helpful attitudes and support, I would not have been motivated to work as hard. So thank you to Waterfall College for a high school experience like none other.”

Michaela loves to keep in touch with her old school and her matric teachers.

She is an active member of the Prayer Warriors WhatsApp group that consists of Waterfall College alumni who were on the Prayer Committee while at school.

These past learners continue to pray for the school and also submit their own prayer requests for support.

The school’s principal, Jeanette van der Merwe, said, “This is excellent news. It reflects the remarkable strides our learners are making in their personal career aspirations.

“Michaela is a shining example of a role model for Waterfall College learners and all young South African women.”
