Lectures suspended at UKZN Edgewood campus

The academic programme will resume on Monday, 28 August.

THE academic programme has been suspended on the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s (UKZN) Edgewood campus today.

Normah Zondo, executive director: corporate relations (acting) at UKZN said the suspension follows protest action where students blocked the entrance to the campus this morning. The South African Police Services and University Risk Management Services have now dispersed the protestors and are continuing to monitor the situation.

“The suspension will allow university management to engage with student leadership and address matters that have been raised regarding accommodation.  The suspension is for the Edgewood campus only. The academic programme will resume on Monday, 28 August,” said Zondo.

Students were urged to desist from engaging in illegal and destructive acts, and allow space for consultation to take place.
