Former freedom fighter gives life-changing talk

Abandoned by his mother, a life of crime and later a freedom fighter, Stephen Lungu shares his life's journey at the Highway Christian Community church this weekend.

MAKE your way to the Highway Christian Community church at 10 Harvey Road on 18, 19 and 20 August for informative talks by Stephen Lungu.

Stephen will spend three days with the local church sharing his testimony.

When he was four years old he was abandoned by his mother and had to look after his younger brother and sister in the streets of Harare.

After being placed in an orphanage, he ran away and learnt to live a life of crime before he took up the role of freedom fighter.

His life was filled with hate until a rather dramatic turning point at an evangalism meeting.

Both he and his gang descended upon the meeting for the sole purpose of killing its occupants. A rival gang had similar plans and reached the tent first, killing many.

His story is of how God worked in his life and gave him hope and encouragement.

Stephen could not read or write even up until he was a freedom fighter but now speaks more than five languages.

He and his wife have sent all their children through higher education, three of whom are biological and seven are adopted.

He has written a book on the story of his life, and all the proceeds go to changing the lives of street children.

The first event is on Friday, 18 August from 7pm and is targeted for the youth but all are welcome.

Stephen will speak again at a morning service on Saturday, 19 August from 9am and on Sunday, 20 August at 9am.
