Learners rake in medals at Genius Olympiad

The Star College Durban family are proud of their learners who participated in the Genius Olympiad 2017, USA.

STAR College learners raked in medals at the recent Genius Olympiad hosted by the State University of New York at Oswego.

The Olympiad hosted 1 100 learners from 71 different countries and entries of more than 600 projects were submitted.

Ten of Star College Durban learners participated with five projects.

Grade 11 learners, Tarini Nadesan and Nikita Chitanand achieved two gold medals for their project titled, Generating thermoelectricity from the heat inside a car.

Saanthin Perumal and Ryan Ramiah, in Grade 11, achieved two silver medals for their project titled, Citrus power – Making useful products from plants.

Ayush Chunilall and Sashen Naidoo, in Grade 11, achieved two bronze medals for their project titled, Ecotech.

Grade 9 learners, Tharanya Pillay, Davashni Pillay and Grade 11 learners, Simran Rathilal and Yastha Sapry, were mentioned as honourable awardees.

Tharanya and Davashni’s project was titled, 3D Printed articulated intelligent Robot adaptable for all terrain environment and Simran and Yastha project was titled, Using wind turbines on motor vehicles to harness energy.

The Star College Durban family is proud of its learners who participated in the Genius Olympiad 2017, USA and congratulated Star College parents and learners who flew the South African flag proudly around the world.
