Music festival showcase students’ talent

Eight campuses under Elangeni TVET College competed in the first music festival.

ELANGENI College students dressed in their colourful traditional outfits and filled the Pinetown Campus Hall for the first annual music festival recently.

All eight campuses under Elangeni TVET College; Inanda Campus, KwaDabeka Campus, KwaMashu Campus, Qadi Campus Ndwedwe Campus, Mpumalanga Campus, Pinetown and Ntuzuma Campus competed in various music genres which included, hip-hop, African music and dance.

Organiser of the event, Sihle Moyi, said the aim of the music festival was to promote healthy and active student lifestyle at all their campuses.

“We want to make the school life interesting and not put all of the focus into books. Our students are talented in many other things especially dancing and singing.

“This festival has helped us choose a campus that will represent KZN at an art and culture festival later this year to compete with 50 other colleges from all over SA,” said Moyi.

KwaMashu Campus were the winners, walking away with three out of five trophies.

The Pinetown campus hosted the event and came first in the hip hop category.
