In a separate incident, a 19-year-old man sustained moderate injuries after an alleged hit and run on the N3 in Pinetown last night.

ER24 spokesman, Ineke van Huyssteen said when ER24 paramedics arrived on scene at about 6.45pm, the pedestrian was seated in the median of the highway.

“To reach him posed quite a challenge for paramedics. After moving him safely off the highway paramedics could assess the patient’s injuries. He sustained moderate injuries and was transported to RK Khan Hospital,” said Huyssteen.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the man was apparently not found on the scene.
