Hillcrest Rotarians welcome new president

Rob Campbell was inducted as the new president of the Hillcrest Rotary Club.

IT was an evening of elegance and celebration as the members of the Rotary Club of Hillcrest and guests welcomed the new president of the club,  Rob Campbell.

Martin Wheeler, the club’s outgoing president, said, “The Rotary Club of Hillcrest may be a small club, but our membership is made up of Rotarians who have invaluable professional expertise as well as the passion to ensure that our numerous activities are carried out both effectively and efficiently and it has been my honour to have been their president for the 2016/2017 Rotary year.”

Under Martin’s guidance, the Rotary Club of Hillcrest received its first global grant worth R869 956.

This was used to establish a rainwater harvesting system at iKhethelo Children’s Village to alleviate the reliance on municipal supplied water, cutting the NPO’s monthly utility bill considerably.

The rainwater harvesting system is aimed at capturing 220 000 litres of water in two reservoirs which feeds into the existing plumbing with pressure pumps.

Seven solar hot water geysers will be installed in the children’s cottages.
