Wrap up warm, the cold weather is expected to continue this weekend

Meteorologist, Wayne Venter said there will be slight rainfall on Friday and Sunday.

THE recent drop in temperatures across Durban will continue with cloudy afternoons expected over the weekend, warned meteorologist, Wayne Venter from the South African weather services.

According to Venter, on and offshore winds over the coastline across KwaZulu-Natal have resulted in Durban experiencing cold weather the past few days.

There are predictions of low temperatures on the beaches North of Durban reaching 13 degrees tomorrow (Friday 14 July).

“We are also expecting slight rainfall and some snow in the Drakensberg Mountains this weekend,” said Venter.

Not accustomed to feeling this cold, Durban folk have to dig deep into their cupboards to find those scarves, beanies, coats and jerseys they wore on a past trip to Cape Town or overseas during winter.

Prepare soups and stews and enjoy the rather rare cold days to cuddle up in front of fires and heaters.

So while holidaymakers may be dancing on the beach wearing costumes and slip-slops, wrap up warm and enjoy that hot chocolate.

Let’s see you guys prance on the hot sand mid Feb when the humidity, like a wet towel, klaps you across the face and causes you to heave and sweat while we breeze along on our bicycles quite accustomed to our sunshiny days.
