Hunter Tilling's inspiring journey to recovery was captured in an emotional video by family members.

AFTER three months of sleepless nights, tears, joy, happy moments and fear for the worst, Pinetown’s Hunter Tilling is finally home.

Hunter was discharged from the Sub-acute Rehabilitation Hospital in Hillcrest earlier today.

She was involved in a serious head-on-collision along Riverside Road, Durban North on Friday, 14 April, and left in a coma after suffering severe head trauma and other injuries. Hunter spent nearly a month in a semi coma and under sedation at the Umhlanga Hospital but became more responsive after she had been moved to the rehab hospital in Hillcrest.

In a post on the Help Hunter Tilling Facebook page yesterday (12 July), her families requested for the public to keep the family and Hunter in their thoughts and prayers for this big occasion.

“There are a lot of mixed feelings of anxiousness, happiness and uncertainty going around, but we know it’s going to be a happy day for the Tilling family.”

According to a family friend, Hunter has short term memory loss and can’t remember the accident or anything of the past three months, just that she was in an accident and been in hospital.

The family said they will still keep the Facebook group going for updates as well as the fundraisers and donation page since there are still medical bills to be paid and more to come in the future.

“Hunter will have two trained carers starting at the Tilling house from tomorrow [today], alternating shifts to ensure Hunter gets the best help and attention needed 24/7.”
