Fourways Kwikspar responds to parking lot attack

The owner of Fourways Kwikspar reassured its customers that they do endeavour to keep the car park safe from bad elements.

THE owner of Fourways Kwikspar, Dave Buckingham, has responded to the intimidation and assault incident in the parking lot of his store on Friday, 30 June.

The incident follows an argument between three gentlemen that turned quite nasty, where one of the aggressors pulled a knife on a gentleman that was just trying to calm the situation down.

“I would like to apologise that the gentleman who was threatened had to go through this unfortunate experience when he was just trying to help and I would like to reassure our customers that we do endeavour to keep our car park safe from bad elements and this incident was very unfortunate, but it was the presence of our car guard, Claude, and security guard, Simo, who actually jumped in and separated the aggressors from doing any harm,” said Buckingham.

Buckingham said he would like to inform his customers that they have also taken measures to lessen the risk of remote jamming by installing an alarm that is activated if someone tries to remote jam your car. This has already prevented a few incidents.

“It was unfortunate that the camera footage was posted on You Tube as this created unnecessary negativity and the Highway Mail should not have posted a link to the footage without my consent.

“This type of incident in today’s climate can happen anywhere and we as citizens need to be calm and read the situation carefully before getting involved to avoid this kind of thing happening again,” said Buckingham.

He urged customers to contact him personally at Fourways Kwikspar on 031 701 3043 if they ever have a bad experience at the store.
