Two men sentenced for KwaNyuswa hijacking

The victim who is a doctor at the Valley Trust had just closed his surgery when he was accosted by two armed men.

CAMPERDOWN Magistrate’s Court sentenced Thabo Lekoebe Dludla (32) to 15 years and his co accused Siboniso Ngwane (27) to 12 years imprisonment last Wednesday for hijacking.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the victim, a 38-year-old doctor had just closed his surgery at Valley Trust in KwaNyuswa and was on his way to his car when he was accosted by two armed men in December 2015.

“They forced him to lie down and throw the vehicle keys on the floor. He was also robbed of cash before the two men fled the scene in his Opel Corsa bakkie.”

Manqele said the police were alerted about the incident and the vehicle details were circulated.

“Within 30 minutes, the vehicle was spotted in the Inchanga area and both men were arrested. All the items that were stolen during the robbery were recovered. The accused were also declared unfit to possess a firearm,” said Manqele.

The accused made several appearances in court before they were found guilty and sentenced.
