Cameron has the winning formula

Waterfall College's SPAR Star of the Month - June 2017.

WATERFALL College’s SPAR Star of the Month is Grade 10 learner, Cameron Semple.

Cameron has achieved a consistently impressive academic record at the school and also has a range of interests. His physical science teacher and principal of the school, Jeanette van der Merwe, said, “Cameron is a unique top achiever, who is incredibly well read. Besides being a ‘walking encyclopaedia’, his sense of humour keeps both his peers and teachers in fits of laughter.”

His maths teacher, Louis Conradie, said “Cameron is a gifted learner who excels at mathematics. He has passed the first round of this year’s Mathematics Olympiad and has progressed to the second round. He is really good at mathematical problem solving.”

His proud father, Claude Semple said his son enjoys history and understanding how things have come about, from Greek and Egyptian mythology to outer space and science. He loves reading factual books on history, wars and science. He is also currently writing his own book, though he has not divulged much on the contents.

Besides his love of knowledge, Cameron also enjoys playing cricket, Playstation and trivia games. He finds creative expression in playing his character Simekin in the school production of Canterbury Tales, the Inadvertent Musical which will be staged in September.

“Every parent wants the best for their children and of course a good education, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine Cameron would come this far in his education.” said Cameron’s mother, Donna Semple. “He has just gone from strength to strength and amazes me every time. My heart is bursting with pride for him.”
