UPDATE: A day of death, disaster and devastation for Hillary family

The children are in the care of their grandparents in uMlazi.

THE world as four Hillary siblings knew it has changed forever.

In a space of hours, the Sikosana siblings lost their parents in two separate incidents and their home in a fire.

The siblings whose ages range from four to 13 lost their home when one of them lit a candle in their bedroom and left it unattended and it caught alight, burning most parts of their home and claiming the life of their mother, Thulile Sikosana (37).

This tragedy unfolded after the mother had returned from RK Khan Hospital in Chatsworth where her husband, Babeni Sikosana (51) had passed away earlier in the day.

 

According to the Thulile’s aunt, Bajabulile Maphumulo the father died from complications of diabetes.

The children are in the care of their grandparents in uMlazi.

Members of the public, Flamboyant Neighbourhood Watch and the Huntley Crime Watch assisted the Fire Department extinguish the fire.

Counselling

Ward 65 councillor, Samantha Windvogel is working closely with the family to ensure that the children get the counselling required to overcome this tragedy.
