Meeting to address special rating area in Westville/Cowies Hill

The meeting will address all residents' concerns regarding an application to establish a Special Rating Area (SRA) in Westville North and Cowies Hill.

WESTVILLE North and Cowies Hill residents are invited to a public meeting at Atholl Heights Primary School Hall, 52 Methven Road in Westville on Tuesday, 11 July at 7pm, to discuss an application to establish a special rating area.

The hosts, Westville North Cowies Projects NPC, will lodge an application to the eThekwini Municipality for the establishment of a special rating area for all properties falling within the geographic areas on the border of Westville North and Cowies Hill.

These areas include the intersection of M31/Otto Volek to M19/Otto Volek Interchange to M19/Dunkeld Interchange along Rodger Sishi (All odd street numbers from 101 and including 174), whole of Pineside Road, Methven Road, Essex Place, Royston Road, Birdhurst Road, Chandler Road and the from intersection of Chandler/M31 to Corner M31/Otto Volek.

An application will be lodged for a special rating area in Westville North and Cowies Hill.

Michael van der Meulen of the WNCP NPC said the public meeting will confirm: the proposed boundaries and supplementary services; the proposed annual budget and additional property rate; provide nterested persons with relevant information relating to the proposed special rating area, including the information in the motivation report and implementation plan; and give an opportunity for questions and opinions.

Written objections to the establishment of a special rating area or the provisions of the motivation report and implementation plan may be lodged with the Council by 13 August 2017. Objections should be directed to the ‘The Municipal Manager’, EThekwini Municipality, PO Box 1014, Durban, 4000, posted to 18A Jupiter Road, Chiltern Hills, Westville, 3629 or emailed to wncp@hoodwatch.co.za by not later than 4pm on 13 August.

“Property owners, or their representatives are asked to support the SRA application and sign the prescribed letter of support no later than 13 August,” said van der Meulen.

The application, together with related information, will also be lodged with the eThekwini Municipality on the 13 July, and be available for scrutiny during office hours from 13 July to 13 August at Westville North Library in Iver Road, Chiltern Hills during office hours or email wncp@hoodwatch.co.za or Ruth.Cele@durban.gov.za for an electronic copy.
