Westville restaurant targeted by armed gang

The armed robbers fled the scene in the restaurant owners's vehicle.

ON Sunday morning a gang of armed robbers held up a restaurant manager and owner in Westville.

Blue Security’s media and community liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said three men approached the manager and enquired about the opening hours of the restaurant before they pulled out their weapons.

“One of the men pulled out a knife and another produced a firearm and ordered the manager to be quiet. They forced her into the restaurant office where the owner was busy working on his laptop,” he said.

“They demanded keys to the safe and stole an undisclosed sum of cash, cellphones and jewellery before they fled in the restaurant owner’s car. No injuries were reported,” Mathios said.
